Who Needs Supervision?

Recently my little guy, now 3.5yo, wanted to get out the paints.  I told him that we couldn't paint right now since I was in the middle of something, because he needs supervision.  He thought about it for a minute, turned to me and waved an imaginary magic wand.  He blurted, "Zap!  Now YOU have super vision."

Is there a doctor in the house?

Yesterday we had Addy's 3rd year checkup.  Once we got to the exam room there was a doctor's stool on wheels.  Addy climbed on up on it, sat down and said he was the doctor.  So I asked him a few questions as if I was a patient and then I asked him what he was doing next.  He said, "I'm going to a meeting with other little doctors like me".

Commando, Baby.

Charles was walking around without his shirt on tonight.  Addy asked, "Daddy, are you going commando?"

The other day I bought a pineapple.  Addy spotted it and asked if he could have some.  I told him we had to wait for it to ripen.  He waited 2 seconds and said, "Is it ready now?".  I said no, not yet.  Two seconds later he asked, "How about now?"

Birthday

Our little guy turned 3 last week, and we got him a T-ball set. He tore off the paper, looked at the box and said, "It's a blow dryer!" He didn't even sound sad.

Ahhhh-choo!

Last week we made chicken on the grill. Addy spotted it on the counter and asked what was all over it. I told him it was seasoning. He said, "But I don't LIKE sneez-ning!". I told him neither do we.

The Lemonade Button

Tonight at bedtime Addy had a lot to say. Here are a few things we talked about.
We started out by discussing that we should go to the store and buy another brother for Maya. A little brother would be best, he thought. Addy also suggested we purchase another Mommy for me. I have visions of a mommy who could cook, do laundry and watch the kids on date night.
Then we moved on to growing bigger. Addy said that if we push the red button (?) he'll get WEALLY tall like daddy(arm stretched high overhead as far as it will reach). So we chatted about the red button for awhile, and then I found out there is a lemonade button, and if we push that one, we get WEALLY tall like daddy and mommy, and grow really big hands.
I had knee surgery on Wednesday and we have been talking about getting my stiches removed. He asked if "Mr. Tickles" would take the stiches out for me. Mr. Tickles is the water pik at the dentist office.

Meat

Maya and I talking about eating meat.
Maya - "Miss Biachi at school doesn't eat meat."
Me - "That's okay, we know lots of people who don't."
Maya - "Yup, she's a veterinarian."

Eyes Wide Open

More funny comments from Addy... While sitting on Daddy's lap, "When you close your eyes, your eyes are not open."

We were at a friends house last week, and I suppose I was talking too much(again?), so Addy said, "Mommy, stop using your mouth".

All About Eating

About a month ago I picked Addy up at school and had to sign an incident report. He had bitten another child on the belly. (That same child has bitten him several times in the past, so it was delayed revenge.) On the way home I talked to him about it, and explained that we don't bite our friends. He responded, "I ate him like a SNACK!"

The other day we had peeled and eaten some clementines at lunch. Addy really likes to peel his own. He finished one and asked for another "lemon thyme".

Maya and I were talking about where mangoes come from, we had a few the other day and both kids love them. I was saying that they are tropical, and probably come from an island somewhere, but I wasn't sure which ones. Maya said, "maybe Rhode Island?"

Trunk In My Butt

I am long overdue to post some of the funny things that our little Addison Cayton has been saying. So here goes...

Addy asks, "Watch Wiggles?".
Mommy says no.
Addy retorts, "No give me hard time".

I can't quite recall what made him to respond with this statement, but a few months ago he told me that he had some trunk in his butt.

Today we had yet another two hour delay (and a power outage, just to spice things up) and the kids were playing in the living room. Addy left to go get something, came back in, walked over to Maya and said, "Here I are!"

Since we had no power I took Addy to the mall for something to do, and he loves to ride the escalator. So we rode up and down a few times and when we were done he asked me to ride the eskimolater again.

A Shower

This morning Charles came downstairs in a suit, and Addy said, "Daddy look clean". Then he looked over at me, in my sweater and jeans and said, "Mommy, go take a shower".

Kisses...

It was after dinner last night and Addy, as usual, climbed up on my lap. He stood up, looked me straight in the eye and said, "Elephant kisses". He wanted Eskimo kisses!

This morning I asked him what stuffed toy he'd like to snuggle with at school during nap(shhh, daycare) and he firmly told me, "Not today, mommy".

Silaliter

Maya recently was talking about the bus driver and learning how to back up the bus in a small school parking lot. She said, "It was so tight, the bus couldn't even back up a silaliter!" At least she's familiar with the metric system.

Power Outage Trip

Over the summer we got some very strong storms(70+ mph winds) and our power was out for 3 days. It was getting pretty hot in here, so we headed to Philadelphia for a night. There was bed jumping, bus driving and much fun to be had. The kids loved the Please Touch Museum.

Invading his personal space, again.
Don't let the baby drive the bus.

All Over Your Feet

Last night we were finishing up dinner and Addy climbed into my lap. He had been padding around barefoot so his feet had a few crumbs or something (hello, dustbuster) stuck on them. I said, "Addy, what's all over your feet?" He answered, "Toes." He'll be 2 in a few weeks.

Happy Birthday, Cha Cha Cha

We've been to a few birthday parties recently, and Maya has taught Addy her own special version of the Happy Birthday song. It goes like this...

Happy Birthday, Cha cha cha, Chicken!
Happy Birthday, Cha cha cha, Chicken!

The poor boy is going to head off to school in a few years thinking that is actually how the song goes.

Hi Mommy...

The other day I was in the living room, and Addy walked in from the family room and said, "Mommy! Whatcha doin'?"

Orange Love

Recently I took Addy to the grocery store and he was helping me pick out fruit. I handed him an orange so he could put it in the bag. First he kissed it, then he gave it a big hug, and then dropped it in the bag. I handed him two more and he did the same thing with each. He really likes oranges.

Chicken???

Every time Addy sees something that resembles food, is brown and of a somewhat round shape, he says, "Chicken?". That's not good.

Dessert

Maya asked me tonight, while we were discussing different animals and who is faster - like a greyhound or a rabbit and would the greyhound eat the rabbit if he caught it, "Are mice like dessert for cats?"

Santa's Secret

Maya recently explained how Santa gets all of the toys on his sleigh.

He has multiple sacks on his sleigh, one per family and they are labeled with the families names. Using his magic, he shrinks the sacks down to fit on the sleigh. Once he arrives at each house, he uses magic to get the appropriate sack to the top of the pile and un-shrinks it. After everything is normal size, he brings it down the chimney.

Christmas Exclamations, Maya Style

A few things she said as she opened her gifts...

"Paints! He knows I'm an artist."
"Glitter Crayons! I deserve them."
"Is this ALL the presents?"

Today, the day after Christmas, Maya was acting up a bit. Charles said, "If you don't stop it, I'm going to open up a can of..." Maya responded, "Who hash!?!"

Don't Look

We went to Waterloo Gardens to get some family pictures taken with Santa and a live reindeer last weekend. It was an adventure to say the least, and we waited in line for 20 minutes to get these super pictures. Addy wouldn't turn around because he couldn't stop staring at Santa, and Maya refused to look up because she didn't want anyone looking at her.

We did get these 2 final shots and they weren't bad, but nobody was looking!

In The Fall II

His first shiner, thanks to the Little Tikes dump truck.

In The Fall

These next two are the early stages of Mighty Baby.

A warm Fall morning, off to school.
