Zee bebe' has arrived

Okay, so I'm a little slow to write this, but anyway...

We were scheduled to have a c-section(our little guy was breech) on Sept. 10th, but I went into labor around 8:30a on Monday, Sept 8. We called the doctor and they said head right over to the hospital - we got there around 11a, after dropping Maya off at my mom's house. I had eaten breakfast(can you blame me?), so we had to wait several hours for my stomach to empty before the surgery. Those hours were spent on a monitor, keeping an eye on the contractions - which weren't too awful until closer to 3p. Shockingly enough those hours went by pretty fast.

The most difficult part of the day was walking into the OR - it sure didn't look like Grey's Anatomy. The walls needed a coat of paint, there were people everywhere, and a tray filled with shiny(scary!) instruments. The instruments should have been covered up - I would have run out of there if I thought there was any chance I could get away. The table was pretty narrow and I was really scared climbing onto it to lay down. My spinal came next, and Charles had to wait in the hallway. The anastetiaologist(sp?) did a good job, from what I could tell, and she kept me sane(not that I could have gotten up to hightail it out of there anyway) until they let C in to keep me company. He was upset they had already set scalpel to belly when he arrived. It was very strange not being able to move my legs - thank goodness I could move my fingers, which I kept doing to keep focus and not panic. I had some pretty strong pains in my shoulders during the surgery, not sure what that was about. The whole process didn't take too long and Baby Showell came out tush first. He had a great loud healthy cry! Then I started. It took them a bit to clean him up and bring him over, he was so beautiful, and tiny!

Addison Cayton Hollywood Showell was born on Sept. 8, 2008, at 3:16pm. He weighted 7lb, 2ou. and was 19.75 inches long. Charles swears he saw he was 20 inches. We've been busy with him! He's so sweet, and we are now(almost 7 weeks later) just starting to get a smile here and there. More to come.
