Catching Up

Here are a few pictures from August. I'm a little slow in posting these days.

Turkey Day

This morning Maya asked, "Are Santa Claus and God friends, do you think?" We said yes.

Bookworm

The other night my aunt watched the kids, and I asked Maya if they read books together before going to bed. She said, “Yes, we read two chapters. But I had to help Aunt Linda with a few of the words.”

Last week Addy saw a little piece of paper on the coffee table. He walked over, carefully picked it up, and took it into the kitchen. He opened the cabinet and threw it in the trash! Well, he missed, but even so, I was so proud of him. Now if I can only get him to clean the bathrooms.

Yesterday Maya and I were coming home from running an errand. There were tons of tiny birds flying around over our car. I asked her what she thought they were doing and she said they were racing, and who ever wins gets the most worms.

Blatent Disregard for Authority

Our lil' Addison Cayton is 13 months old. Sometimes I like to feed him a snack when he is not in his highchair, it's just easier, and Cheerios are a favorite. We've been trying to teach him to not eat food after it falls on the floor. His latest move is to take a Cheerio, actually rub it on the floor a little, look at me to make sure I'm watching, and pop it in his mouth. Five second rule be damned.

YOU clean it up.

Last week I asked Maya to clean up the family room. She looked at me, exasperated, and said, "Mommy, sometimes YOU get out stuff and I have to clean it up!"

Pretzel Baby

Last night the baby crawled over to the pantry, stood up, opened the door, took the lid off of the plastic tub of pretzel sticks and took one out. I let him suck on it for a while, since we felt he earned it. He'll be 1 in two weeks.

The Glue

Tonight Maya was doing an art project and she was using Elmer's Glue. We asked her to bring it over and put it away so the baby doesn't get it. She got rather exasperated and said, "I know! I don't want him to glue himself to the TV or the sofa!"

Mulch, Baby, Mulch

Last week Maya was sitting with Addy(his name of the moment, technically his real first name is Addison) and she leaned over to smell his hair. She looked at me and said, "Mommy, he smells like mulch." I'm still not sure why.

Today I was using packing tape to mail something and the dispenser was giving me fits. I said, "This is some really crappy packing tape". Maya heard me and asked if I said, "I really love this piece of cake."
